Pyengana Farmgate Café

Pyengana Farmgate Café is a gorgeous farm café located in Pyengana, in Tassie's north-east, approximately 142km north-east of Launceston.

The café is nestled in the rolling green hills of the Pyengana Dairy, which is renowned for its cheese, milk cultured butter and double cream.

The café offers both indoor and outdoor dining. Diners who choose to sit inside can sit by the wood fire and view the handcrafted traditional cloth matured cheese maturing underneath the café through the cheese window.

Diners can also purchase products made by Pyengana Dairy as well as products made by other local Tasmanian producers.

Diners who choose to sit outside can take in the picturesque, lush green Pyengana farm landscape and even watch cows being milked in the dairy.

There is a designated dog friendly area outside for diners travelling with their four-legged friends.

The menu offers traditional, light meals with an emphasis on dairy products produced by the Pyengana Dairy as well as other quality Tasmanian produce.

We indulged in rich and creamy chocolate milkshakes served in the traditional and generously-sized stainless steel milkshake cups.

The bacon and eggs on toast was delicious and you could taste the quality of the bacon.

The farmers lunch for one was a hearty and satisfying offering of cheeses, thick-cut ham, salami, sourdough, pickled onion, salad and chutney.

The scones, jam and cream were light and fluffy while the double cream was amazingly thick and rich.

Pyengana Farmgate Café is the perfect place to soak up the views, sounds and aromas of the Pyengana Dairy, while feasting on quality Tassie produce.
